Meelodi
Meelodi I started as a duo with painter and singer Medi Farmani some 20 years ago. Experimenting and improvising intuitively with string instruments and voice, fast forward and three albums later we have now grown into a larger unit including syrian singer Nawar Alnaddaf, percussionist Snorre Bjerck, bassist Anders Bitustøyl and trumpeter/singer/percussionist Per Jørgensen
An eclectic mix of musical influences, mostly deriving from my extensive studies of stringed instruments around world, mixed with Medis persian vocals and lyrics from the likes of Omar Khayyam and Rumi is now joined by Nawars beautiful arabic vocals, Snorre Bjecks unique percussive sound palette, the low frequency mastery of Anders, and the one of a kind musicianship of the amazing Per.
Our third album The Great Blue Wheel received rave press reviews and was selected Top of the World, The 10 Best New Albums from around the world in the October 2021 issue of Songlines Magazine.
